There are 4 gates that look identical to this one: North Gate, South Gate, East Gate and West Gate. I have no idea what this gate is....could be any one of the four!


It was not destroyed during the revolution because the clever monks put a huge banner outside the temple saying "Long Live Chairman Mao". Many other temples were destroyed, but not this one. It stands, 500 years later, as a testament of the past.

Suddenly the streets were filled with horses (and horse sht). The men had returned from the fields!


We're greeted by the beating of drums!

Since I was travelling with the philantropher who donated a school to their village (he donated 3 schools to 3 villages), I was treated like a VIP by the locals.

Learn to live on a Plateau....Plantations on top of the mountains. You can only get there by 3 hours on mountain roads. Mind you, none of the roads are paved.

Gone with the old, in with the new.
An old teacher closes the 300 year old school after a philantropher donated a new school to the village.
